ONE ON ONE INSTRUCTION

If our group class sessions aren’t quite what you are looking for, we also offer one on one training sessions personally fit for you. Spend some time with one of our camera experts to teach you the ins and outs of your photography equipment and camera. Topics include camera settings, sports photography, macro photography, low light photography, photo software, or what ever you would like to learn. Your session will be geared to your skill level and needs.

Affordable at $40 for the first 30 minutes and $30 for each additional 30 minutes.


THE CAMERA COMPANY PHOTOGRAPHERS GROUP

IIf you would like to meet some great people and go out and have fun shooting pictures while getting some tips and trying out some equipment join our Camera Company Photographer's Group. Every month we find an interesting place to go out and shoot as a group. There is no cost or commitment to joining our group.


PORTRAIT & LIGHTING TECHNIQUES WORKSHOP

What does it take to make a great portrait? Sometimes you need to find the right light and other times you need to create it. In the seminar portion of this event we will go over the basics of portrait photography, discussing lighting, posing and lens selection. All of which will help you create a more dynamic image. You will then take what you learned in the seminar and put it into practice during the hands on model shoot. Topics covered include understanding the placement and quality of light, creating the light you want, building the image, posing your subject and what lens to use and why.

Part One: 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M..
Join Armando Flores at our Westside store for a seminar on the basics of portrait photography, discussing lighting, posing and lens selection.
 
Part Two: 12 P.M. to 2 P.M.
We will meet at the Allen Centennial Garden on the U.W campus at 12 P.M. for a hands-on model shoot with instruction. Tamron will have a wide assortment of lenses available for you to try out.
 
About Your Instructor
Armando Flores studied photojournalism in college and has worked for Nikon, Sony and now Tamron. He's photographed professional sports for over 17 years and has worked for Reuters, AP, AMPAS, HFPA and IGLA as a contributing photographer.

FILMMAKING WITH YOUR DSLR CAMERA

YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Stewart Stroup
worked at the University of Wisconsin-Madison writing, shooting, and editing instructional video projects for the School of Education. After ten years with the university, he established Grassland Media, Inc. to provide similar services to a wider array of clients.

Over the last 30 years as producer, videographer, writer and editor he has worked for a range of broadcast, corporate and institutional clients including: NBC, CBS, CNN, Kohler Company and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Other work includes corporate documentaries and training programs shot in 36 states and 5 countries.

In addition to his freelance work through Grassland Media, he is an instructor at Madison College where he teaches video production.

Designed to get you off the auto setting, this class will introduce you to the main features of your Canon DSLR camera. This class is perfect if you just bought a Canon DSLR, or have had one for a while and want to know how to use it better.
Key points –

  • How autofocus works, and when manual focus works better
  • How to capture the moment by using continuous shooting mode
  • How to achieve better images when you use flash

INTRO TO ADOBE LIGHTROOM

In this streamlined two-part class, we will walk you through an entire Lightroom workflow from import to export. We’ll cover the essentials of organizing and importing photos in part one, and in-depth editing and exporting in part two. Both sessions are packed with only the most useful info, laid out in practical terms..

It’s strongly recommended that you bring your laptop, with Lightroom installed, to class so you can follow along.
Key points –
First week

  • How to import and organize images using keywords and ratings
  • Basic editing including crop, exposure adjustment, white balance and color enhancement

Second week

  • Advanced editing techniques including cloning & healing, adjustment brush, and graduated adjustments
  • Exporting photos as slide shows, files to print, and uploading to social media
